My name is Jenny Bergmans and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I do this job
because I truly enjoy helping others. I am honored when others feel safe enough to share their
stories with me. I care about your well-being and will provide you with the tools you need in
order to seize the day and learn how to tackle even the most traumatic circumstances.

My counseling style is compassionate, empathetic, caring and understanding. I often try to see behaviors, attitudes and actions from a trauma informed perspective. This means that I believe that our behaviors, attitudes and actions are often developed as coping strategies from adversities we have faced in our lives. Many of these coping strategies previously worked to keep us safe but may no longer be needed in our lives now or may now be disruptive to our lives and how we interact with others. Together we can try to understand and address these concerns while also working through them.
My style also comes from a strengths based, attachment and family systems perspective. I believe in treating everyone with respect and compassion. I let you drive the therapy and encourage your strengths while also supporting your growth. I believe that you are always the true expert in your own life. I listen without judgement and always seek to understand. I strive to make our time together a safe and comfortable experience.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, enjoying nature, creating art and spending time with my friends and family.
I look forward to working with you on your journey!

Do you feel at times like the weight of your world is on your shoulders and you are barely able to breathe? Do you feel stuck in your life not knowing which direction to turn because you have lost yourself in the stressors of life? Are you someone who has just wanted to be heard, validated, and empowered to believe in yourself? We all experience these feelings, and you have taken the first step in your healing journey.
Allow me to walk alongside you and support you from a non judgmental, compassionate, empathetic and safe space. You are the expert in your life, and you know deep down inside what you envision for your life. I will be here as your therapist to challenge the statements of self-doubt when they arise, teach you how powerful your thoughts are, and show you that there is hope in healing no matter what life challenges have arisen for you. You can follow your dreams, no matter your age, or how long you have waited. The time is now, and I would be honored to begin this healing journey into supporting you to become the person that you have always envisioned yourself to be.
I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Portland State University in 2019, and I received my master’s degree from The University of Southern California in Social work in the Children, Youth and Families track in December 2020. I am in the process of becoming an LCSW and I am currently a Clinical Social Work Associate under the supervision of Jennifer Ybarra LCSW.
I am trained in the following modalities: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered, Strengths Focused, Expressive Arts, Mindfulness Based, Collaborative Problem Solving, Internal Family Systems.
My therapeutic approach is a strengths-based, trauma sensitive approach to healing. I provide a safe, affirming, open, and curious space for you to feel heard, understood, and encouraged throughout your healing process. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and families as they navigate through life’s challenges such as trauma, attachment difficulties, depression, anxiety, transitions in life, interpersonal challenges, and marital challenges to name a few.
I believe in the power of the mind, body, and soul connection which provides for a more holistic experience in healing based on your unique needs and desires for treatment. I respect, and honor the light in you.

In a world that encourages the creation of a chaotically tough exterior, I want to work with you to find your strength in peace and softness. Being vulnerable is often very scary, but bravery is defined by facing your fears, not by the absence of them. It is my goal to provide a space where you feel safe enough to tap into your own power and help you cultivate the assertiveness needed to create a life of your design, something we all deserve but rarely give ourselves permission to have.
I received my master's degree in Social Work from Tulane University and have been a clinical therapist for around two years now, however my therapeutic journey spans much further than that. Whether it was during my time as a makeup artist, asking people questions about their lives, or when I worked at a cafe and always made time to listen to my patron's stories. Therapy and mental health has always been my vocation, it just hasn't always been my job.
Given my background, my therapeutic approach is eclectic, drawing on a vast variety of tools I learned along the way that stem from a place of compassion and the knowledge that you are the expert on your life. I collaborate with clients and often combine modalities so as to tailor the therapeutic experience to an individual’s specific needs and goals. I also like to incorporate creativity and laughter whenever appropriate and possible, allowing for sessions to feel genuine and supportive, but also flexible--therapy does not always equate to tough topics and tears. I specialize in working with those who experience depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm and/or suicidal ideation. No matter what, I want to hear your story and you deserve to tell it.

In my free time I enjoy writing, being in nature, shopping for crystals, listening to audiobooks, lifting slightly heavy objects, watering and singing to my plants, and watching horror films with my partner and my dog.
